nEW hARTFORD yOUTH hOCKEY 
LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM

New Hartford Youth Hockey's Learn to Skate program is designed with the beginner skater in mind.  Students will learn the basics of skating while developing the agility, balance, and coordination necessary for hockey.

  • Ice Skates and hockey helmets with a cage are required.  Protective padding is recommended including knee pads, gloves, elbow pads and anything additional to help cushion falls
  • Students should dress in warm clothing
  • No hockey sticks or pucks
Pricing
  • $150 per student.  $100 refunded through raffle ticket selling.
General Schedule
  • The Learn to Skate program runs October through April.  Registration is open and students may join at anytime.  Students may attend one or both sessions.  Schedule is as follows:
Fridays
  •  5:00-6:00 pm
Saturdays
  • 9:00am-10:00 am

Registration through NYHA and USA Hockey registration is required.  Anyone that wishes to volunteer on the ice must have proper certifications.  Please contact Chris Moran for volunteer information at: blueshirt@roadrunner.com

We welcome all kids ages 2-8 to LTS.  Our Mission is for all the children to enjoy coming to the arena and look forward to Hockey Time.

1st year Goals

  • Understand what equipment goes where and why.
  • Stand up without assistance on the Ice.
  • Get up off the Ice without assistance.
  • Push with both legs.
  • BALANCE, BALANCE, BALANCE

2nd year Goals

  • Be able to change direction.
  • Start to understand what crossovers are and attempt to do them.
  • Be able to stop without running into the boards at least one way.
